This tale really sets the stage for historical romance。 The Christian themes of the power of prayer and forgiveness were quite compelling。 I liked how even the "villains" were well-rounded, thoughtful characters with conflicting motivations。 This tale really sets the stage for historical romance。 The Christian themes of the power of prayer and forgiveness were quite compelling。 I liked how even the "villains" were well-rounded, thoughtful characters with conflicting motivations。 。。。more

Love, loyalty, trust, guilt, infidelity, faith。 This book covers a lot of ground。 It’s a well written story about Sabina, the daughter of a mob boss, and Lorenzo, the man she is supposed to marry。 It’s set in Chicago during the Prohibition era in the early 1920’s。 There is violence, abuse, and loss, but the main characters remain a light in the darkness, and choose to act out of love, even towards the man considered by everyone to be their enemy。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 stars。Thank you to the author and pub Love, loyalty, trust, guilt, infidelity, faith。 This book covers a lot of ground。 It’s a well written story about Sabina, the daughter of a mob boss, and Lorenzo, the man she is supposed to marry。 It’s set in Chicago during the Prohibition era in the early 1920’s。 There is violence, abuse, and loss, but the main characters remain a light in the darkness, and choose to act out of love, even towards the man considered by everyone to be their enemy。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 stars。Thank you to the author and publisher for the eARC to review。 A positive review was not required and all opinions are my own。 。。。more

"Forgiveness isn't a ticket you buy, a one-time thing bought and paid for。 Forgiveness is the train you choose to ride through life's journey。 You have to stay on it, even though sometimes you don't know where it's taking you。 You have to trust it to protect you from the elements that rage outside - and inside。"This is a different Roseanna M White book, which just proves how versatile and proficient she is as an author。 She still stays in the historical genre but this book takes us deep into the "Forgiveness isn't a ticket you buy, a one-time thing bought and paid for。 Forgiveness is the train you choose to ride through life's journey。 You have to stay on it, even though sometimes you don't know where it's taking you。 You have to trust it to protect you from the elements that rage outside - and inside。"This is a different Roseanna M White book, which just proves how versatile and proficient she is as an author。 She still stays in the historical genre but this book takes us deep into the heart of Chicago during the Roaring 20s。 The glamour and glitz of the nightlife, danger and secrecy of the mafia, unwavering loyalty of family, and one man's passion to live out God's calling combine perfectly to produce an unforgettable tale of true worth, forgiveness, and love。 If you enjoy historical romance, you will definitely want to read this newest by Roseanna M White。Though I'm not a fan of love triangles, Sabina, Lorenzo, and Roman's relationships are intricately layered with many dimensions that I felt empathy for each one of the characters。 Sally comes into the plot halfway through the story and adds another emotional layer to the dark underworld。 It's fascinating to see the mafia world through the eyes of those who grew up in it (Sabina and Lorenzo), want to destroy it (Roman), and are helplessly shackled to it (Sally)。 In the midst of all the lies, murders, betrayals, bribery, alcohol, and exploitation, a shining light of redemption cuts through that darkness and calls each of the characters to forgiveness and unconditional love。 Though not a suspense book, the fast-paced plot involving the mafia and Roman's dogged pursuit of the mafia boss had me on the edge of my seat。 Lorenzo's total devotion to Sabina is remarkable and his stance to love the family but not the family business is admirable。I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment。 All opinions are solely my own。 。。。more

And can he forgive her actions that betrayed him? I enjoyed reading their honest conversations as they try to figure out if they still have a future together or not。 Lorenzo at one time had wanted to become a priest。 He discerned that through the vocation to marriage he could best serve God。 "I didn't choose you over the Church。 I chose both。 I chose to serve God through loving you, raising a family with you。""It helped to realize the words of the prayers, and even more the sacraments。。。。they can do their work in us even when we're too numb to realize it。" "Whether we feel it or not, whether we are aware of it or not, He's there。 He's present。 He's pouring His grace on us。" "Would God even hear the prayers of a mafioso's daughter?" "Strengthen him。 Strengthen me。 Strengthen us。 Help us, somehow, to be a light instead of part of the darkness。"Roseanna M。 White does a beautiful job highlighting the humanity of all the characters in the story despite their present choices or past actions。 Redemption is for all, if only all would choose it。Shadowed Loyalty is a well reseached, well penned, multi-layered story that doesn't shy away from the difficult life in the mafia, murder, prostitution, bribes, body guards, alcohol, and mistresses, and how it's completely incongruous with their faith and family life。 Forgiveness, and choosing God are/become important for the two members of this family who want out of this way of life。 I highly recommend this book of forgiveness and redemption!Thank you to the author for allowing me to read a copy。 All opinions are my own。 I am looking forward to putting my pre-ordered copy on my keeper shelf。 。。。more

What a roaring story! Roseanna M。 White has written a thrilling narrative of family, love, and loyalty set in 1920’s Chicago。 Sabina is the daughter of a mafioso in Chicago, in 1922? This is one you don’t want to miss! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publishers。 I was not required to write a positive review。 All opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more

Welcome to the roaring twenties in Chicago! A time when boundaries are pressed, and loyalties are tested。 Roseanna M。 White takes you into the underground world of Old World/Sicilian Mafia Bosses, speakeasies, and prohibition。 All of us reach a point when we realize our parents are fallible and make mistakes, but what happens when you find out the same papa who used to bounce you upon your knee is the same man who orders the hits? Sabina has always known she was part of a mafia family, but she is now learning what all this entails and what it will require of her。 Her best friend, who happens to be her fiancé, is determined to not be a part of that life and becomes a lawyer。 Convinced that Lorenzo no longer “sees” her or loves her, Sabina gives her heart to another。 It is this triangle that ushers so many other events in motion and tests the very foundation of safety, loyalty, and family that Sabina has built her security and identity upon。 Roseanna M。 White has an amazing way of shining the Light into the very darkest of places, thereby rendering a sense of hope into all that read it。 Even though there are mature topics, they are handled gracefully and in a way that focuses on the redemption, not on the sin。 Shadowed Loyalty is a story that moves at a quick pace and begs you read through。 The characters are well developed with witty, intelligent discussions。 I adored watching Sabina and Lorenzo grow back into their love story and find the strength that binds them。 I highly recommend this to all lovers of historical fiction。 I received a complimentary copy from the author and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given。 。。。more

A book set in Chicago during the roaring 20’s with the main characters being members of leading Mafia families might not at first glance be expected to be historical Christian fiction。 Roseanna White, however, seems to be able to take just about any historical situation and produce a rip-roaring good story that is also full of spiritual depth and challenging insights into living a Christ-honoring life no matter what the circumstances。 Themes of loyalty, the nature of true love, and forgiveness a A book set in Chicago during the roaring 20’s with the main characters being members of leading Mafia families might not at first glance be expected to be historical Christian fiction。 Roseanna White, however, seems to be able to take just about any historical situation and produce a rip-roaring good story that is also full of spiritual depth and challenging insights into living a Christ-honoring life no matter what the circumstances。 Themes of loyalty, the nature of true love, and forgiveness are dealt with in thought-provoking honesty。 I had a hard time putting this book down, but I also didn’t want to stay up reading it too late at night in case the plot twist I knew was sure to come turned out to be something bad, and then I might have a hard time getting to sleep :-) tI received a complimentary copy from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review。 All opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more

It does not shy away from hard topics though as it does speak of the mafia。 I would give the content warning of mentions of death, murder, prositution, and brothels。 However White also points us back to God and the hope found in Him。 Shadowed Loyalty is a clean historical Christain romance。 I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author。 All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review。 。。。more
